Avalokiteshvara Standing Brass Statue

$978.50

Beautiful handmade statue of Avalokiteshvara Padmapani, the lotus holder.
The bodhisattva of compassion appears in a standing pose holding the stem of a blossoming lotus flower with his left while the right hand is in a gesture of generosity.

According to Nepali Buddhist tradition there are 108 forms of Avalokiteshvara. Padmapani Lokeshvara is the more peaceful and simple form, with one face and two hands only.
The standing form of Lokeshvara is described in this appearance in the verses of the Mahayana tradition texts; this design is almost exclusively represented in sculptures and rarely used in traditional paintings.

This sculpture is remarkable for the graceful proportions, the warm red/gold tone of the metal typical of Nepalese sculptures and the intricate and elegant decorations.

Dimensions: 16 x 6 x 3 inches.
Weight: 9.3 pounds (4.2 kg).
Material: Brass.
