Avalokitesvara Thousand Arms
Avalokitesvara or Chenrezig is considered the Bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. He is one of the more widely revered Bodhisattvas in Mahayana Buddhism. In China Avalokitesvara is depicted in a female form known as Guanyin or Quan Yin.
Avalokiteśvara is the bodhisattva who has the sacred duty to relieve suffering and encourage enlightenment among humans.
The legend says that because of the needs of so many people his head split into eleven pieces.
Amitabha Buddha, seeing his agony, gave him eleven heads and a thousand arms in order to hear and offer aid to more people.
